Volodymyr Lytvyn: Collective Will and Voice of the Local Councils shall sound and be heard
Collective will and voice of the local councils shall sound and be heard, as they shall guarantee the dialogue and balance in the society. Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement during the Consultative-Advisory Council on Local Self-Government held in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
According to V. Lytvyn, the Consultative-Advisory Council on Local Self-Government sums up its work, as the regional leaders have changed. "I am convinced that positive result will follow our meetings in Kyiv. The result will be positive both for the Verkhovna Rada and the local councils", he stated.
The Head of the Parliament focused on the importance of participation of the local self-government representatives in the discussion and preparation of numerous issues important for the social life: pension reform, land market issues, privileges, and anti-corruption laws. He considers discussion of the budget and taxation issues equally important. "Your opinion is important and decisive", V. Lytvyn emphasized, "Dialogue and round table discussions are essential for the positive result."
Considering the specified tasks and necessity to increase the role of the local self-government and their participation in the law-making, the participants of the meeting drafted a plan of the further work, and tackled the organizational issues.
